The website is slow.

Problem

This knowledgebase article will help users understand why the website may be slow and what they have control over that might help.

Solution

Speed depends on several variables including your internet service provider, the number of users on the system at one time, either local to your network or Perspectives website, and the fullness of the servers. Below are some common reasons for your computer to slow down:

  1. If the website seems slow, close as many of the tabs that you have open on your browser as possible.
  2. Programs running in the background are a common reason for a slow computer. Removing or disabling any startup programs that automatically start each time the computer boots may help. To see what programs are running in the background and how much memory and CPU they are using, open Task Manager on your computer.
  3. If your computer is suddenly running slower, a runaway process might be using as much as 99% of your CPU resources. You may right-click your taskbar and select the “Task Manager” option or press Ctrl+Shift+Escape to open it and check if this is the problem.
  4. Uninstall unused programs.
  5. Delete temporary files.
  6. Run a disk defragment.
  7. Run a disk clean-up.
  8. Try the Performance troubleshooter.
  9. Run fewer programs at the same time.
  10. Restart regularly.
